'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' crosses 2000 episodes - enters Limca Book of Records

'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is a much loved comedy show that airs regularly on SAB TV Monday to Friday at 8.30 pm. It has now crossed the 2,000 episodes benchmark. The show has secured a place in the Limca Book of Records for the 'Longest Running Comedy Show'. It is not only the longest running comedy show in the country but also the only one to complete the most number of episodes.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 8 August 2016.
The serial 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is based on the column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chashma' written by journalist and columnist Taarak Mehta for a weekly Gujarati magazine. The stories are intricately woven with some amount of social messaging and moral values too. The episodes are centered around the residents of Gokuldham Society, which is based in suburban Mumbai.
The stories follow the activities of Jethalal Gada who keeps landing himself into trouble and these lead to a whole lot of hilarious situations. The popularity of the show is undisputed because it was nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to propagate and create awareness for his brainchild Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Our best wishes to 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' to continue the trend and go from strength to strength.
