Meryl Streep, Freida Pinto and Michelle Obama in Morocco to promote education among girls

The trio of Oscar winner Meryl Streep, Indian-origin Hollywood actress Freida Pinto and America’s First Lady Michelle Obama joined to help promote education among young girls in Morocco. 67-year-old Streep was in Marrakesh to share her wisdom with high schoolers as part of Mrs. Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative - this is to encourage female education and empowerment.
This has been reported in indiasnexpress.com dated 30 June 2016.
Meryl Streep was the first person in her family to attend university. She encouraged the teens to never give up on their goals in spite of the inevitable challenges they may face on the way. And she had no qualms about flying halfway around the world to help the First Lady with the campaign.
AS she put it - "if Mrs. Obama asked me to road trip anywhere in the world I would say, ‘I’m there in five minutes’.”
Alongside them was Frieda Pinto, the Slumdog Millionaire actress. She encouraged the females to not be afraid to speak their minds. Streep and Pinto, along with Obama and her two teenage daughters, Sasha and Malia, also went to the King’s Palace to join Princess Lalla Salma for a traditional Moroccan iftar - this is a dinner to break the fast of Ramadan.
