This has been announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and reported in indianexpress.com dated 9 October 2015.
The total number of films in the best foreign language film category is two less than that of last year and Paraguay is the first-time entrant in this category.
Apart from India, other south Asian countries vying for a Oscar nomination are “Jalal’s Story” directed by Abu Shahed Emon (Bangladesh), Nepal’s “Talakjung vs Tulke” helmed by Basnet Nischal and Jami’s Pakistani film “Moor”.
The 81 foreign-language submissions will be whittled down to a shortlist of nine, then would further be narrowed to five finalists. The venue of the Awards ceremony would be Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and it would be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories all over the world.
