Big-B and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Piku’ gets best movie award at Indian Film Festival, Melbourne


It was raining laurels for the movie ‘Piku’ acted by Amitabh Bachhan, Deepika Padukone and Irfan Khan when the film walked away with many of the coveted awards.
The IFFM awards for 2015 for best film went to “Piku”, best director award went to Shoojit Sircar for the same film and the best actor award went to Irrfan Khan for his performance in “Piku”.
Bhumi Pednekar of “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” picked her first award for the best actress.

The gala event took place at the iconic National Gallery of Victoria and was attended by several luminaries and high profile dignitaries that included Australian High Commissioner to India Patrick Suckling, Indian High Commissioner Navdeep Suri, Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt, Consul General Manika Jain, Anil kapoor, Bhumi Padnekar, Simi Grewal, Sonam Kapoor, film director Shoojit Sircar, Rajeev Masand, Victorian special minister Gavin Jennings.
Incidentally, this year’s award ceremony coincided with the 69th Indian Independence Day celebrations. Anil Kapoor and Suri hoisted the tricolor in the presence of a massive crowd of Indian community.
